Destiny's Child singer Beyonce Knowles is in negotiations to take the female lead in a new film, according to reports. 'The Fighting Temptations', a Paramount Pictures/MTV Films project, is set to go into production this summer, under the direction of Jonathan Lynn.

According to Billboard, the film, which co-stars Cuba Gooding Jr., tells the tale of an LA hip-hop producer who travels to a small Southern town in order to collect an inheritance.

Gooding must create a successful gospel choir before he can receive his share of the will and Knowles is likely to play the gospel choirgirl who later becomes Gooding's love interest.

The film, described as 'Soul Food' meets 'The Full Monty', would be Beyonce's second major film role. Her big screen debut comes this summer in the role of Foxy Cleopatra in 'Austin Powers in Goldmember'.
